TS 12" f/12 Cassegrain telescope - optical tube
The telescope is manufactured by GSO for Teleskop-Service. Cassegrain telescopes combine the advantages of a Newtonian telescope as a pure mirror system with a short design. Optically, Cassegrain telescopes are superior to conventional Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. Cassegrain telescopes are mainly used for photographing the moon and planets and for observing astronomical objects. Thanks to very sensitive sensors in astro cameras, it is even possible to photograph nebulae, star clusters and galaxies.
The advantages of TS-Optics Cassegrain telescopes at a glance: Well corrected image field due to parabolic primary and hyperbolic secondary mirror with less field curvature than with SC telescopes. Purely reflective system without Schmidt plate, so infrared photography is also possible at full sharpness. Significantly faster cooling than with the SC, due to open design. Additional fans for the primary mirror Brighter image due to 99 % dielectric mirror coating on primary and secondary mirror. No shifting, as the primary mirror is fixed. High-quality 3" dual-speed rack and pinion focuser with ring clamping of 2" and 1.25" accessories 33 % obstruction by the secondary mirror, comparable to SC telescopes. Better sharpness on the optical axis due to precise mirror surfaces and the elimination of the Schmidt plate. Less problems due to dew. With SC telescopes the Schmidt plate often fogs up, this is not the case with the Cassegrain. Generous back focus for the use of 2" accessories. Primary and secondary mirrors are adjustableThe 12" Cassegrain telescope is ideal for observatories with with a wide range of applications:Telescope for observing astronomical objects: The bright and high-contrast image and, above all, the large corrected and illuminated field of view make the Cassegrain telescope ideal for observing astronomical objects. The moon, planets, but also nebulae and galaxies are well imaged by the telescope. You can easily use 2" and 1.25" accessories. The obstruction caused by the secondary mirror is only 33 %. This is comparable to Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. However, thanks to 99 % reflection of the primary and secondary mirror, the image is significantly brighter. The sharpness in the field is also better because the image field is almost flat.
Telescope for astrophotography: A Cassegrain telescope is very well suited for photographing the moon and planets. The contrast of the image is very high. Planets and the smallest lunar craters are displayed absolutely without chromatic aberrations. The rack and pinion focuser allows precise focusing thanks to its speed reduction. Thanks to modern and highly sensitive CMOS sensors, even deep-sky photography is within your reach with the TS-Optics Cassegrain. An additional corrector lens is not required because the image field is well corrected beyond the APS-C format.
The improved focuser - Gen 2:The focuser has been significantly improved and offers greater accuracy and significantly improved rigidity. The focuser focuses without any problems even under high weight loads.
