The new Skywatcher Explorer 200PDS offers to essential advantages for astro photography: A 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission and enough back focus for nearly every camera on the market. Of course the system is diffraction-limited and has a parabolic main mirror.

The Explorer-200PDS advantages:

The robust HEQ5 SkyScan accepts telescopes up to ca. 12 kgs. So there are still reserves for cameras, guiding scopes or equiv. The mount offers good tracking performance, ST-4 compative auto guiding connection and precise object positioning. So it is an optimal base for visual observation and astro photography.

The new 2" focuser offers precise focusing ability for tack-sharp astro photos. The mechanical stiffness is very good. Even cameras with 2kgs of weight are held solidly. A 1.25" reducer is included.

Due to physical reasons, a fast newtonian system produces coma outside the optical axis. The Skywatcher Coma Corrector compensates for this effect and leads to pinpoint stars across the field of view. It works for both observation and astro photography.
