Sharpstar 61EDPH III 61 mm f/4.4 Triplet Apochromat (using 0.75x Reducer)
The 61EDPH series has long been popular with astrophotography amateurs, in order to have a better user experience for users, Sharpstar has optimized the 61EDPH II and launched the 61EDPH III. 61EDPH III has more diverse functions and greater performance. It is a great choice that can´t be missed by astrophotographers.

The 61EDPH III still has high-quality optical standards like before and adopts an air-spaced triplet APO design. Compared to the 61EDPH II, it upgraded to two pieces of low dispersion ED glass for more excellent imaging performance. Together with the 0.75x reducer, the 61EDPH III forms a telescope for high quality astrophotography. The combination has a focal length of 270 mm, a focal ratio of f/4.4 and supports the 44 mm full-frame image circle. It represents a high-quality portable telescope.

The 61EDPH III upgraded the handle of the 61EDPH II to a multifunctional handle, which provides an additional universal Vixen style finder base. In addition, the 61EDPH III is equipped with a 200 mm long vixen dovetail plate, easier to connect to the equatorial mounts and accessories, and makes the OTA easier to balance on the mount. The appearance has smooth and natural lines, with the classic red and white color scheme, very simple and generous. The tube uses high-quality CNC machining, high-grade surface painting, and polished oxidation, elaborate and durable.

The included full-frame reducer: The reducer adopts an air-spaced quadruplet structure, supporting full-frame imaging.

One end of the reducer features an M68×1 female thread to connect to the focuser drawtube, the other end of the reducer has an M48×0.75 male thread with built-in 2" filter thread. The back focus is 55 mm. If it needs to be extended, the reducer can be split to reveal an M54×0.75 female thread, and the back focus becomes 75 mm.

The optional full-frame flattener: The flattener adopts an air-spaced triplet structure, supporting full-frame imaging. The telescope has a focal length of 360 mm and a focal ratio of f/5.9 when using the flattener.

One end of the flattener features an M68×1 female thread to connect to the focuser drawtube, the other end of the flattener has an M48×0.75 male thread with built-in 2" filter thread. The back focus is 55 mm. If it needs to be extended, the flattener can be split to reveal an M54×0.75 female thread, and the back focus becomes 81.5 mm.

Testimonial from a customer
Our customer Bernd Gooßmann has taken a great astro image and wrote a field report based on it:

Object: Sh2-119 ("Clamshell Nebula") in Cygnus

Photographer: Bernd Gooßmann
Shooting location: Emberger Alm, Carinthia (Austria)
Imaging telescope: Sharpstar 61 EDPH-III (61EDPH-BUNDLE at f=360 mm)
Filters: Astrodon 3 nm H-alpha and O-III
Imaging camera: ZWO ASI294MM Pro (ASI294MMpro)
Exposure: 2 h 55 min (18x5 min H-alpha, 17x5 min [O III])
Image processing: DeepSkyStacker, PixInsight
Guide scope: ArteSky 32/130 mm guide scope (alternative: ULTRA-32MKII)
Guiding camera: ZWO ASI120MM Mini (ASI120mini)
Mount: Bresser EXOS-2 (4964350)

Here is the field report:

"The very simple conclusion to the 61 EDPH-III : A telescope that is really fun!!! A crisp sharp image right into the corners! And that even at 270 mm with the full-frame Canon 6Da!
I am absolutely thrilled with the performance of this telescope and can really highly recommend it!!! On the photo of SH2-119 even the planetary nebulae We2-245 and Outters 5 are visible in detail. A really incredibly great optical performance for this "little thing"!
Also in the handling the 61 EDPH-III shows itself really uncomplicated. It is mechanically very solid and elaborately built and also offers a lush 360° rotation. It´s easy and solid to use and holds focus even when rotating.
What I find really amazing is also the high temperature stability of the focus and the color fidelity of the lens. Even at 270 mm and full frame, I don´t detect any color distortion in the corners.
The Sharpstar 61 EDPH-III has been pleasantly easy to use in the shooting nights so far. Even the focus when using narrow band filters was straightforward to adjust manually.
It has become a faithful companion in a very short time!"

We thank you for the friendly field report and congratulate Bernd Gooßmann on the great image!
