Askar SQA60 pro - 60 mm f/4.6 Sextuplet Petzval Astrograph
This high-performance manual-focus telephoto lens is designed for astrophotography, but its practical operation also makes it ideal for nature photography. Manual focusing is extremely smooth and precise. The robust mechanical construction ensures durability and reliable performance even under extreme conditions, such as during use on cold, clear winter nights.
Exceptional star performance:The SQA60 pro features 60 mm aperture, 276 mm focal length, and a focal ratio of f/4.6. Its air-spaced sextuplet lens design - including two SD glass elements - delivers pinpoint stars across the entire field. The RMS radius of the central star point is less than 1 µm, while corner star points remain under 2.1 µm. The system also offers excellent full-field illumination performance - even in the corners, it remains at 95%.
Optical structure:The optical system utilizes a sophisticated sextuplet (3-2-1) air-spaced Petzval lens configuration, balancing superb optical performance with structural integrity. The second and fourth elements are made of high-quality SD glass for effective chromatic aberration correction and enhance sharpness. Notably, the fourth and fifth elements maintain the same clear aperture as the front lens - a rare feature in this class - ensuring bright, uniform illumination and an exceptionally flat field across a full-frame sensor.
Integrated field flattener:This built-in, full-frame self-flattening design eliminates the need for a separate flattener or complex back-focus calculations. Simply achieve focus with a working distance between 41 mm and 66 mm, and you´re ready to image.
Front thread:The SQA60pro features a built-in 82-mm filter thread on the front, compatible with most photographic filters on the market, allowing users to freely swap filters based on their shooting needs.
Large, rigid 2.8" dual-speed focuser:A high-precision rack-and-pinion dual-speed focuser, compatible with most electronic focuser upgradesd. It features 25 mm travel range with a finely engraved scale on the drawtube. The CNC-machined drawtube incorporates internal baffel threads and an anti-reflective coating for superior stray light control.
Connecting the camera to the SQA60 pro:The Astrograph features the popular M48x0.75 camera thread (plus a filter thread for 2" filters). The recommended working distance is 55 mm from the M48 thread. This means that all common photo adapters fit the lens, and the camera is automatically at the correct distance, regardless of whether you want to connect a DSLR, mirrorless system camera, or astro camera. We will be happy to advise you on choosing the right adapter. To choose the correct image section, you can rotate the camera and then lock the rotation in place.
Additional features: Handle with multifunctional finder shoe Two Vixen-standard finder shoes on the focuser A stepped interior design on the tube ring prevents improper installation of the tube on GoTo mounts An enlarged thumb screw on the tube ring allow for quick, tool-free opening and closing Increased distance between the tube and the dovetail bar prevents collision with the mount Long Vixen-style dovetail bar facilitates balancing Precisely CNC-machined, high-quality anodizedPossible applications:Optical and mechanical design optimized for both astronomical photography and daily photography; the astrograph can be connected to astronomy cameras to take star photos or connect to DSLR or mirrorless system cameras to be used as camera lens.
