Omegon 102/660 Wide Field Refractor

With 102 mm aperture, the compact telescope shows thousands of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Through 660 mm focal length you get a large field of view and gain optimal overview. The refractor is quickly ready for use and thus ideal for spontaneous observations. Also as a travel telescope this refractor makes a good figure. The optical tube can even be stowed in hand luggage.

The strength of the refractor - a large field refractor

It has just become dark, the stars are twinkling in the firmament and you go hunting for nebulae, star clusters and galaxies or maybe there is even a comet in the sky. And that´s exactly what the refractor is made for. Explore the sky or tune in to a distant galaxy with "starhopping". Anything is possible. Of course, you can also risk a look at the moon and planets and, for example, view Saturn´s ring, the play of Jupiter´s moons or fine grooves on the moon.

The disadvantage of the relatively high speed with a two-lens objective without special glass is the significant chromatic aberration, which is noticeable in color fringes around bright objects and thus reduces the maximum useful magnification noticeably. Therefore, this refractor is not a planetary instrument, but it is an inexpensive possibility to observe wide fields and faint, extended gas nebulae.

If you want to magnify a bit higher, we recommend a minus violet filter. Because of the not too fast design, filters like the Baader Baader Fringe Killer or Semi Apo Filter are often sufficient, in contrast to faster optics like the 102/500 mm refractor, which already requires the - much darker - Contrast Booster at the same magnification.
