APM Doublet FPL53 SD Apo 140 mm f/7 - Optical Tube Assembly with 3.7" Focuser

The APM 140 mm f/7 apochromat convinces with its high performance. APM has succeeded in developing this telescope with high-quality optics and a solid tube at a sensational price. The 140 mm f=980 mm SD apo features a doublet lens with SD glass, one lens of which is FPL53, for maximum performance. This combination results in a chromatic correction that is far above the usual in this price category. Each optics undergoes an interferometric test at 532 nm (green) at APM prior to shipment, and even at Telescope-Service the optics is retested to eliminate errors.

The telescope is supplied with a solid 3.7-inch focuser. The focuser is especially suitable for heavy accessories and offers an absolutely vignetting-free image even with large format chips.

With a focal length of 980 mm, the 140 mm SD apo is a real all-rounder. The observation of close double stars with high contrast up to detailed planetary observations will be a lot of fun with this instrument. In addition, this apochromat is very light at only 9.8 kg and can already be used on portable mounts.

The 3.7" focuser with rack and pinion drive and 1:10 dual speed remains stable even under high loads and is therefore also suitable for photography. The attention to detail can also be found in the included 2" to 1.25" eyepiece adapter, which features a design that clamps the eyepiece evenly all around, making it much better than conventional adapters with a simple brass clamping ring and screw.

Recommended correctors for astrophotography:

TS 2.5" Photoline full format corrector and image field flattener # TSFlat25Del

The corrector is screwed onto the M68 thread of the focuser.

The working distance from the M48 thread is 55 mm.

The focal length is not changed.

A D=63mm thread is still available for individual adaptations.

The corrector is screwed onto the M68 thread of the focuser.

The working distance from the M48 thread is 55 mm

The focal length is reduced to 774 mm, the focal ratio improves to f/5.53
