The Celestron C5 SCT is a versatile and compact telescope
Along with the C8, it was one of the first Schmidt-Cassegrains on the market. The C5 was even used by NASA for some space shuttle missions due to its good optical quality. The imaging quality of this compact telescope is impressive.
Applications: Nature observation - bird watching Astronomical observations (moon, planets, nebular objects) Photography of astronomical objects Powerful spotting scope for sport shootersThe optics of the C5 convinces with a good light gathering capability through 125 mm aperture at a relatively long focal length. Thus, impressive observations and photographs can be made even under problematic lighting conditions.
In photographic terms, the C5 corresponds to a high-performance telephoto lens with a focal length of 1250 mm and a focal ratio of f/10.
Compact and transportable:The C5 is still very portable with a length of only 33 cm and a total weight of 2.7 kg. It can even be mounted on a good photo tripod. This makes the C5 an ultimate travel spotting scope for nature lovers who do not want to do without powerful optics even on vacation. Here, the included 45° Amici prism is helpful, which provides an upright and non-mirrored image while allowing a comfortable viewing position at the same time.
Especially flexible - almost any accessory can be used:Focusing is performed by an internal focusing system. Thus, the C5 offers a fixed rear port for various accessories for observation and photography.
1.25" connector for many different magnifications (included in scope of delivery) possibilities for binocular observation (optional accessory) easy photo connection via TS SC-T2 adapter (optional accessory)XLT coating for a brighter imageThe C5 comes with Celestron´s most powerful coating: the XLT coating. As a result, over 10% more light reaches your eyes than with normal coatings. The result: a brighter image and more contrast.
Advantages of the Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain system: Short design: Due to the combination of primary mirror and convex secondary mirror, the design of the instrument can be kept short. This benefits mobility. No focusing problems: Focus is adjusted by adjusting the primary mirror. This allows you to connect virtually any accessory such as binoviewers or corrector systems for astrophotography. High rigidity: Even long time exposures are possible with Celestron´s SC system, without problems with bending tubes. Easy adaptation: The Schmidt-Cassegrain can be easily adapted to different types of mounts. A universal dovetail bar is always included in the basic equipment. Likewise, the C5 offers the direct connection for good photo tripods.Astrophotographic results obtained with this telescope on Astrobin
