Celestron C11-A XLT 280/2800mm Schmidt-Cassegrain OTA with Losmandy Style Dovetail
The Celestron C11 is one of the most popular telescopes for astronomy and astrophotography for decades. The good quality of the optics makes this Schmidt-Casegrain one of the most versatile telescopes on the market.
The C11 provides sufficient aperture for the observation of thousands of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies. Due to the Starbright coating, the image is especially bright.
Many planetary observers swear by the proven optics of the C11, some of the best photographs of planets were taken with the C11. Contrast and sharpness convince even critical observers.
Together with the right corrector, the C11 is also a fine telescope for astrophotography. Due to the primary mirror focusing system, the application of correctors and focal reducers is possible without problems.

One of the big advantages of the C11 is the mobility. We don´t know another telescope with comparable aperture which can used as well for mobile astronomy. With its weight of only 12.5 kg, the C11 is supported by mounts like the CGEM or the EQ6 with sufficient stability reserves.

The advantages of the Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain system:
The combination of primary mirror and convex secondary mirror allows for a short design. This benefits the transportability.
Focusing is achieved by moving the primary mirror, thus you can attach practically all accessories like binoviewers or corrector systems for astrophotography.
The 2" and 3" SC thread allows for easy adaption of various accessories. Whether you thread everything or attach via 2" or 1.25" push fit, there are suitable adapters for anything.
Celestron uses pre-loaded ball bearings for the primary mirror focusing, so shifting has no chance with the C11.
The C11 is upgradable up the f/2 astrograph via the HyperStar system.

"Celestron spricht für sich. Habe bereits seit vielen Jahren ein C8 in Einsatz. Freue mich die gekaufte Leistungssteigerung des C11. MfG"

"We will use the C11 in a two-year project to study, i.e. take astrophotos and measure/estimate redshifts of ~20 Abell clusters in the CfA2 Great wall. The red shifts are measured using a spectrograph with reflection grating having 1200 lines/mm. We are building the spectrograph now using a very general idea. The C 11 will also be used for ordinary astrophotography and observations of distant planetary nebula, one of them being the Footprint Nebula Mink 92 which we have been looking for for a long time. "
