Vixen Newton R200SS - aperture 200mm / focal length 800mm tube with optics
A powerful instrument for astrophotography and for deep sky observation.

Vixen has developed a thoroughbred deep sky instrument with this fast Newtonian. Whether you want to use it to observe nebulae, star clusters and galaxies or to photograph these objects, you will enjoy this powerful large-field Newtonian in both fields.

With sensitive cameras, you will be able to take colourful and well-resolved images of interesting celestial objects in no time at all. This is ensured by a focal ratio of f/4, which, with the help of the optional coma corrector, delivers pinpoint star images right into the corners.

"I really love the R200SS. The build quality and optics are top class. I use it exclusively for astrophotography and in this respect it does fall a little short due to some of the design choices made by Vixen. The focuser is good but not great and the thread size of the barrel means that the choice of 3rd party accessories can be limited. The rail that comes with the telescope is not a very good design and I would recommend replacing it. While the optics are very good it will require a good quality flattener/coma corrector to get the best out of the system. It would be best to get on that is designed for an F4 Newtonian as I´ve tried a number of more general coma correctors and not been happy with the results. Teleskop Express recommended one based on my set up and it´s been a fantastic improvement. Overall I really like the telescope; it?s lightweight, fast and can produce incredible images. If you are prepared to spend some time working around its quirks, I believe it could become a favourite for any user. "
