WarpAstron WD-20P Harmonic Direct Drive Mount

This equatorial mount has a load capacity of 22 kg without counterweight and 30 kg with rod and counterweight, at an own weight of only 5.7 kg. The strain wave gearings work without backlash!

New compared to the WD-20::

Slightly more powerful right ascension motor

Fully integrated high-capacity internal power and data connection system, capable of delivering up to 150 W of regulated DC power

Leveraging PD protocol, WD-20P supports multiple voltage levels and high current output, suitable for mini PCs or standard DC 5521/5525 port input devices.

A USB-C socket according to the "USB Power Delivery" standard on the saddle plate delivers up to 6 A at 5/9/12/15/20 V output voltage, i.e. 120 W maximum power.

A second USB-C socket according to the "USB Power Delivery" standard on the saddle plate provides up to 3 A at 5 to 20 V output voltage, which, according to the manufacturer, is sufficient for 65 W. This socket is also suitable for communication with a mini PC.

The input voltage may now be 12 to 28 V, the maximum input current can reach 10 A.

A 24 V, 200 W mains adapter is supplied.

The GoTo system allows for 2.8°/s maximum speed and can be controlled via USB, WiFi or Bluetooth.

The mount provides a strong Vixen and Losmandy style saddle plate, but no tripod.

Harmonic drive? Yes, but Direct Drive!
WarpAstron introduces its brand new WD-20P Harmonic Drive mount with Direct Drive technology and, new, with built-in power distributor, to the market.

WarpAstron thus offers a transportable mount for astrophotography. The mount weighs 5.7 kg and carries telescopes up to 22 kg without counterweight. With the counterweight and counterweight rod (optional, with M12 threading) the mount can also carry telescopes up to 30 kg.

Most Harmonic Drive mounts on the market use a Belt Drive coupling system, so a motor moves and by means of a belt the harmonic motion system is driven; this can cause problems over time (the belt can come loose) and can present problems due to errors in assembly; the Direct Drive harmonic motion system, on the other hand, in addition to having all the advantages of the Belt Drive, actually eliminates the error caused by assembly, provides faster motor response, and allows for greater precision in guiding corrections.

Many functions and ease of use
The WD-20P can be operated in equatorial and altazimuth modes. The equatorial mode is used for astrophotography, then the mount should be aligned as accurately as possible with the celestial pole.

The mount is ready for use in a few minutes.

No more need for counterweights
Normally, equatorial mounts require counterweights to balance the weight of the telescope, this is the only way to ensure proper operation.

The WD-20P uses robotic technology, requiring no counterweights up to a telescope weight limit of 22 kg. This makes the WD-20 lighter, more compact, and easier to use and transport. Only for heavier telescopes (up to 30 kg maximum) we recommend counterweights to keep the mount and tripod balanced.

What tripod can I use?
WarpAstron has thought to facilitate this choice by adopting the same connection system as ZWO, so you will be able to use tripods such as the TC40, its PE200 half pier, the Artesky pier, or the Skywatcher EQ5 tripod with the PE200.
