SkyWatcher K100 Klevtsov-Cassegrain telescope OTA

The compact Sky-Watcher K100 Klevtsov-Cassegrain telescope is an interesting catadioptical design consisting of a primary mirror and secondary mirror with correcting lens. This enables a compact format despite the large focal length of the telescope.

Astronomy
The optical design is ideal for observing double stars, planets or surface details of the moon.

Nature observation
The SkyWatcher K100 can also be used very well as a spotting scope for nature observation.

Secondary mirror spider with curved arms
As a rule, secondary mirror spiders have four straight arms. This leads to brighter objects being imaged with so-called spikes, which result from the diffraction of light at the secondary mirror arms.
The curvature of the secondary mirror arms prevents these spikes from occurring and thus ensures a natural appearance.

How a Klevtsov-Cassegrain telescope works
As with the Maksutov telescope, the spherical aberration of the primary mirror is corrected with a special lens. In the Klevtsov telescope, however, this is mounted directly in front of the secondary mirror. The resulting open tube enables significantly faster temperature adjustment.

Internal focusing and distance scale
The telescope is equipped with a friction focuser which moves the primary mirror to achieve focus. A distance scale with markings for object distances of 8 m, 14 m and infinity enables particularly fast focusing without long trial and error when observing the earth and sky.

With the smartphone holder, you can quickly and easily get started with astrophotography. Simply attach your smartphone to the desired eyepiece using the holder.
