Star Adventurer MINI Wi-Fi (SAM Astro Bundle) - Travel Mount
The compact mini version of the proven Star Adventurer tracking system for cameras and small optics - with integrated Wi-Fi module!
This enables... Astrophotographic long exposure with SLR cameras up to 100 mm focal length Time-lapse photography...
... in a very modern and compact design!
Overview
The improved Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Mini WiFi (SAM) has a larger worm gear with 144 teeth, making it a compact and precise camera tracking platform. It is ideal for long-exposure astrophotography and time-lapse photography.
The SAM is so compact that it fits in virtually any camera bag, making it an ideal companion for any trip.
The Sky-Watcher SAM is equipped with Wi-Fi and is controlled via your smartphone using the ?Star Adventurer Mini App,? which is available as freeware for iOS and Android. The SAM is very easy to set up and operate in all modes.
Scope of delivery
The SAM astrophotography set includes the Star Adventurer Mini Wi-Fi, the ball head adapter, a polar finder with illumination, a polar height cradle, and the dovetail L-mounting rail. The Sky-Watcher release cable, available for most camera models, can be purchased separately.
Usage
The SAM can also be used with larger camera-lens combinations, but is ideal and very easy to use for large-field astrophotography with standard lenses of 55 mm focal length or shorter. This requires only a rough polar alignment, and even less experienced amateur astrophotographers can achieve beautiful results.
The Star Adventurer Mini WiFi can be easily mounted directly onto a standard tripod with a 1/4? or 3/8? mounting screw. The pole height can be adjusted precisely and easily with the pole height cradle included in the set. A camera can be attached to the Star Adventurer either with a ball head (see ?Recommended Accessories?) or the dovetail L-bracket. Optionally, a counterweight with a rod can also be attached to the L-bracket.
Power supply
You can easily operate this photo mount using batteries in the integrated battery compartment or via a micro USB connection. Two alkaline manganese AA batteries are sufficient for 24 hours of continuous operation.

Some experiences from one of our customers:
Using the SW SA mini mount
The mount runs on 2 AA batteries. It will track well with batteries showing a constant red light. The manual states that it will blink slowly when voltage reaches 2.3 and not track well. This I have not confirmed.
The manual states that it will run on 5V USB. I have run it without batteries on a AC-DC converter set at 3.5V. It tracks well and shows 3.08V but the red light will blink slowly.
With the converter at 3.5V and batteries inserted it tracks well and the red light shows constantly, showing voltage of 3.08V.
Conclusion: Use the SAM with or without batteries using a DC voltage below 5. Do not be bothered about the red light blinking, and be careful that the when using a converter that the voltage does not exceed 5V. I imagine, but have not checked, that the voltage is measured only from the batteries but that they are not used when an external voltage is applied.
Regarding the wifi, it will stay connected as long as the phone is nearby. Taking the phone away will cause the wifi to disconnect but SAM will continue to run until the programmed time has elapsed.
SAM will not run without programming the photo timing. It is not influenced by connecting or disconnecting a camera, only by what is shown on the Console app.

"Absolutely perfect! This product has some features that make it superior to the MSM Nomad in my opinion."
