Lunt LS50THa - complete H-Alpha Solar Telescope for Observation and Photography
The LS50THa allows for solar observation and photography in the H-alpha band. It is a true "grab-and-go" telescope that reveals the details of the chromosphere, prominences, and filaments that make H-alpha observation so rewarding. The complete, ready-to-use telescope is stored in a case. All you need is a camera tripod or a small tracking mount.

The 1.25" R&P focuser
The focuser, featuring a robust rack-and-pinion system, offers exceptional stability and can support heavy eyepieces, binocular adapters, or cameras. The benefits are is immediate: smoother travel, positive lock, and the confidence that your focus point stays exactly where you set it.

Three 1.25" flatfield eyepieces - optimized for solar observation
Three flat-field eyepieces cover the magnification range you will actually use. The 8-mm eyepiece (44x magnification) pushes in tight on active regions when seeing cooperates. The 12-mm eyepiece (29x magnification) is your all-purpose solar eyepiece: It offers sufficient magnification for surface details and a sufficiently large field of view to keep the entire Sun in view. The 16-mm eyepiece (22x magnification) pulls back for full-disk views and prominence surveys along the limb. All three feature 60° apparent field and the same 0.1% AR coatings that Lunt uses on its etalons, minimizing ghosting in the narrow-band optical path.

What you will see on the Sun with the LS50THa
You can explore everything the LS50THa reveals with a bandpass of <0.65 Å. At 44x magnification through the 8-mm eyepiece, active regions resolve into intricate structures of light and dark, and prominence detail sharpens from soft arcs into defined loops and threads. At 22x magnification through the 16-mm eyepiece, the full solar disk fills the field of view with information: you can survey the entire limb for prominence activity, trace filament paths across the hemisphere, and watch the slow evolution of active regions over the course of a session.

Pressure tuning
Pressure tuning remains your most powerful tool. Scan through the chromosphere at any magnification. Watch structures appear and recede as you shift through the hydrogen-alpha line. Three eyepieces mean you are always observing at the right power for the conditions and the target.

Photographing the Sun with the LS50THa
Of course, you can also photograph the sun. The blocking filter also features a T2 thread on the eyepiece side for attaching cameras. The solar disk has a diameter of 4 mm at the focal point. The blocking filter with 6 mm of clear aperture therefore provides enough space. However, we recommend using a tracking system to keep the sun exactly in the center. For solar photography, we recommend cameras with a 1.25" connection. We´ve linked a few suitable cameras in the accessories section.
