Lunt LS40THa - complete H-Alpha Solar Telescope for Observation and Photography

The LS40THa allows for solar observation and photography in the H-alpha band. It is a true "grab-and-go" telescope that reveals the details of the chromosphere, prominences, and filaments that make H-alpha observation so rewarding. The complete, ready-to-use telescope is stored in a case. All you need is a camera tripod or a small tracking mount.

Double-stack performance for maximum contrast:

The LS40THA comes with a second etalon front filter that allows the bandwidth to be adjusted from <0.25 to <0.35 Å. As a result, this telescope offers unparalleled contrast in the Sun´s chromosphere - a level of contrast that, in our opinion, cannot be achieved by any other telescope with a comparable aperture.

What you can see:

At <0.25 Å combined bandpass, the chromosphere reveals unique structures. Filaments resolve into complex structures with dark cores and distinct edges. Active regions reveal their full depth. Prominences show internal threading and flow patterns from the base to the tip that broader-band telescopes render as smooth, featureless arcs. The chromosphere becomes a landscape.

The 7.2-21.5 mm zoom eyepiece lets you scan full-disk context at 19x, then push in to 56x on active regions without changing the eyepiece - critical when conditions are changing and solar features are evolving faster than eyepiece swaps allow.

Photographing the Sun with the LS40THa:

Of course, you can also photograph the sun. The blocking filter also features a T2 thread on the eyepiece side for attaching cameras. The solar disk has a diameter of 4 mm at the focal point. The sun should therefore be precisely centered, and we recommend using a tracking system to keep the sun exactly in the center. For solar photography, we recommend cameras with a 1.25" connection.
