Astronomik CLS-CCD Nebula Filter for Astrophotography
This filter is suitable for photographing nebulae, star clusters and also galaxies even from close to the city. The contrast of the deep-sky objects is enhanced, because the light of the artificial illumination is blocked as far as possible. This allows you to expose 3x longer before the sky background is brightened. The CLS CCD filter thus improves results whether you are working near cities or under dark skies far from settlements.

The CLS CCD filter is ideally suited for photographic use on telescopes of all apertures with focal ratios from f/15 to f/2.

How the CLS-CCD filter works:

The filter completely blocks the emission lines of low and high pressure lamps (mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na)) and the lines of airglow. This improves contrast everywhere, even under dark alpine skies.

All important emission lines of astronomical objects are transmitted. The filter also blocks infrared light (IR light). An additional IR blocking filter is therefore not necessary.

Astronomik XL Clip Filter for Nikon Z Full Frame System Cameras
The clip filter is optimized for use with normal camera lenses and for telescope use.

The filters sit securely and tension-free in the camera. Assembly and disassembly are easy with your finger, without tools! No changes to the camera are required to use the filters!

The challenge:

You have a camera and use it also for astrophotography? Then you have surely already encountered the following problems:
Large filters in screw cells are very expensive.
Filter holders between camera body and lenses cannot be used, because then it is no longer possible to focus to infinity.
On very fast telescopes with little working distance, not even a filter drawer or filter wheel can be used, since the distance to the corrector can no longer be maintained.
With long exposure times, the chip of your camera gets dusty.

With the Astronomik clip filter you are rid of all these limitations in one fell swoop!

The Astronomik clip filters are laser-cut on state-of-the-art machines and can be inserted directly into the camera body in seconds. No conversions are necessary and all functions (focus, aperture, image stabilization) remain completely intact!

The clip filters are optimized for use with normal camera lenses and for telescope use. The filter used provides excellent dust protection, preventing dust from getting onto the sensor during long exposures.

The Astronomik clip filters are registered as utility models at the European Patent Office.

Compatibility:

Nikon Z full frame mirrorless cameras Z5, Z6 and Z7 are compatible, other bodies have not been tested by the manufacturer yet.

The filter is not compatible with the original Nikon Z 2.0x teleconverter.

Due to the very tight space inside the camera the clip filters might add a minimal obstruction at the edge of the field, wich is easly corrected by normal flatfielding.

Astronomik recommends the CLS CCD filter as the first filter
This filter largely suppresses artificial light pollution and natural airglow. When using this filter you have a dark sky background and you can therefore expose much longer and thus make fainter objects visible. The filter is optimized so that the objects are imaged in natural colors - that is, as the human eye would perceive the objects if it were much more sensitive.

Important: The basic CLS filter has no built-in IR blocking. Therefore, for a converted camera ("astromodified") you need the CLS-CCD!
