Description

GSO 8" f/5 Parabolic Newtonian Telescope - OTA with tube rings and 8x50 finder
... powerful system for visual observation and imaging
... aperture 200mm (8") / focal length 1000 mm (f/5). Enhanced reflectivity (94%)

GSO Newtonian 8

GSO Newtonian telescopes meet high demands. Their parabolic main mirror is polished precisely and is superior to other telescopes made in far east. The mechanical system sets a benchmark, too. A solid steel tube and a robust Crayford focuser bring the stability necessary for astro imaging.

Advantages of the 200mm f/5 GSO Newtonian:

-- Diffraction limited parabolic main mirror with 94% reflectivity
-- Adjustable main- and secondary mirror cells
-- Better field illumination for photography by 64mm secondary mirror
-- 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission for precise focusing
-- Optimized back focus: even (D)SLR cameras can be brought into the focal plane
-- Stiff secondary spider vanes - no bending
-- Steel tube for a maximum of stiffness (superior to aluminium tubes)

The 2" dual speed Crayford focuser:

Crayford focuser

Its ball-beared design offers fine and smooth focusing even under heavy loads up to 2.5 kgs. A 10° twist of the low-speed wheel moves the drawtube by only 0.038 mm! Tack-sharp photos are no problem now.

The 200mm f/5 GSO main mirror:

Ventilated main mirror

BK-7, a very homogeneous optical glass, is the mirror's substrate. With the mirror cell's open design and a (standard) main mirror fan, fast cool-down times of approx. 15 mins guarantee observation or imaing without long waiting times.

GSO has many years of experience in crafting parabolic mirrors. So we can guarantee an optical performance better than only "diffraction limited". To make collimation easy, the main mirror has a centre mark.

Scope of delivery:
-- GSO 200mm f/5 Newtonian - Optical Tube Assembly with tube rings
-- 8x50 finder
-- 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission and reducer to 1.25"
-- 2" extension tube - to achieve focus with all kinds of eyepieces
-- Dust covers
-- 12V main mirror fan
-- Collimation manual

Technical details:
-- Aperture 200mm (8") / focal length 1000mm / photographic speed f/5
-- 94% enhanced reflectivity coatings for a brighter picture
-- Seconcary mirror: 63mm diameter (minor axis)
-- Field illumination: 28mm diam. (100%) / 41mm diam. (90%)
-- Weight: 9 kgs with tube rings and finder
-- Outer diameter: 230mm
-- Tube length: 900mm
-- 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed transmission

In our opinion, Newtonians by GSO are superior to other comparable systems:

Since many years, we're GSO distributor and we know about the exceptional quality of GSO telescopes. The optical performance is on a very high (and even!) level. In opposite to other manufacturers, we never see "lemons" from GSO. What is more, a GSO system can grow with your demands:

-- For the 8" GSO Newtonian, we offer a Carbon Tube Upgrade Kit

-- Short back-focus Baader Steel Track Focuser upgrade is possible without the need of new tube bores.

-- We offer secondary mirrors of different sizes according to your special demands (e.g. planetary imaging or deep-sky-imaging with full-size sensors)
