Skywatcher AZ-EQ5 GoTo Mount from Skywatcher on DX Steel Tripod
]This combination offers a maximum stability and low vibration properties. The robust and with approx. 5 kg still portable tripod brings out the best out of the AZ-EQ5 GoTo mount. The tripod can be adjusted in height from 800 mm to 1100 mm, thus telescopes with different view positions can be used. The tripod is made from stainless steel and therefore weather-proof.About the mount:
The Skywatcher AZ-EQ5GT is the perfect solution for amateur astronomers who want the benefit of an azimutal AND a parallactic GoTo mount without disadvantages of them.In alt-azimuth mode, it is primarily intended for visual use, and in this mode, two telescopes can be mounted simultaneously in parallel. In equatorial mode, the AZ-EQ5GT is a wonderful base for astrophotography with precise tracking and Autoguiding connection.
The mount itself only weighs 7.7 kg so it is very transportable.
Supplied with the Synscan computerised handset with dual AZ/EQ firmware, it can automatically find and track over 42,900 celestial objects from its database - in both modes - alt-azimuthal and equatorial.

To avoid loss of warranty, please use only the power supplies and mobile supplies recommended by us. How can I connect the hand controller to the PRO mount if the port for the hand controller is already connected to the EQMOD cable?

You can connect either the hand controller or the EQMOD/EQDIR cable. If you control the mount remotely via the computer, a hand controller is no longer necessary.

Nach nun fast 2 Jahren im mobilen Einsatz (Keller -> Garten) möchte ich gerne meine Erfahrungen mit dieser Montierung teilen: Sie hat in all den Sessions (etwa 100) in dieser Zeit zuverlässig ihren Dienst verrichtet, es gab nur zwei/dreimal unerklärliche Probleme während der 2-Star-Alignment Prozedur (die benutze ich standardmässig), die sich aber mit einem Neustart einfach beheben liessen. Die Nachführgenauigkeit (mit angeschlossenem MGEN3 Autoguider) ist gut, auch lange Einzelaufnahmen bis 5 Minuten haben einwandfrei funktioniert. Selbst mit grenzlagiger Beladung (15,5 kg Ausrüstungsgewicht) waren gute Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Die Montierung zeigt eine gewisse Windanfälligkeit. Auch ist das Spiel in beiden Achsen deutlich, wenn man aber bewusst ein leichtes Ungleichgewicht beim Balancieren einstellt, ist dieses Problem in den Griff zu bekommen und wirkt sich nicht auf die Nachführung aus. Ich habe mehrere, auch grosse Refraktoren im Einsatz, da ist es bereits zweimal dazu gekommen, dass das Teleskop in die Stativbeine gefahren ist, allerdings ohne Folgen. Die Verwendung des optionalen Säulenaufsatzes reduziert dieses Risiko, die ist also eine sinnvolle Anschaffung. Insgesamt habe ich mit dieser Montierung gute Erfahrungen gemacht und kann sie als mobiles Einsteigergerät empfehlen. Wer wirklich ernsthaft und langfristig Astrofotografie betreiben möchte, sollte allerdings in höherklassige Montierungen investieren, genau das werde ich jetzt auch tun. Allerdings werde ich die AZ-EQ5 weiterhin als Zweitmontierung nutzen, beispielsweise für die parallele visuelle Beobachtung während einer Aufnahmesession.

The TS team checked the mount before shipping to minimize backlash or other issues. You cannot receive this premium service from every vendor for free. I feel privileged.
The mount arrived in excellent condition. It is rock solid.
It lifts and slews my 8 inch SCT with a binoviewer and also my 80mm doublet refractor with Quark and binoviewer like a feather.
