The Skywatcher Mercury 705 Refractor Telescope with 70 mm Aperture offers a reasonable start into astronomy. Furthermore is is a compact and powerful travel instrument. Several hundred nebulae and galaxies are visible as well as of course the moon and the planets - and the sun when using a safe filter.
Particular compact:The particular advantage of the Mercury 705 is the compact way it is built. The telescope is only about 50 cm long and the whole weight of the instrument is about 7 kg with the mount. Hence the instrument qualifies for airline travel as it can be dismantled into small components within a few minutes.

Stars appear as fine pin points, also when magnified higher.
Very useful focuser:The focuser works clean and smooth without vibrations. You can get the objects into focus very precisely. You may even opt to connect a camera to take images of them.
Setup and start:That is the principle of this refractor telescope. This telescope is always aligned and ready to use. Even children can use it after short training by adults.
Solid equatorial mount with field tripod:The EQ1 holds the compact refractor well, while the height adjustable aluminum field tripod is well matched.
Observing with the Mercury 705 on EQ1:Our solar systemMoon and planets are well imaged - up to about 120x the image definition is very crisp. Watch craters and fine cracks on the surface of our natural satellite.
Also the planets show up with interesting detail. The phase of Venus, the cloud structure of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with the well known Cassini Division are already within reach of the SKR 70/500 mm
StarsHundreds of celestial objects are already within reach of this telescope. With respect to the unaided eye, you collect already 140x the amount of light with the 70 mm lens. Hundreds of nebulae, stellar clusters and galaxies can be seen with the SKR 70/500 mm.
PhotographyThe Mercury 705 offers already features to start with photography. There is a direct photo connection thread at the focuser, converting the scope into a powerful telephoto lens of 500 mm focal length which has high image definition. So you can image the moon or planets, or terrestrial objects: Try to image a bird in a nest for example, even from 30 meters distance you will see the single feathers.
