Dwarflab Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco
A high-performance smart telescope for astrophotography and stargazing
At the heart of the Draco smart telescope lies a high-performance catadioptric optical system with a 90-millimetre aperture. The comparatively large aperture enables high light-gathering power and high resolution - ideal conditions for observation and photographing deep-sky objects, as well as the Moon and planets.
The 90 mm optical system projects the light onto a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which captures astronomical subjects sharply and in great detail. The integrated guidescope enables precise tracking and single exposures of up to 300 seconds. The images are stored on the generously sized 128 GB internal memory.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC are available for wireless data transfer. Via Wi-Fi, data can be transferred over a distance of up to 15 metres at a transfer rate of up to 30 MB/s. Alternatively, images can be transferred to a compatible device via the USB-C interface. The USB-C port is also used to charge the built-in battery, which has a capacity of 77 Wh (10,000 mAh / 7.7 V). The battery capacity allows for an operating time of approximately five hours.
An integrated sensor cooling system reduces thermal noise, thereby improving the conditions for high-quality astrophotography, particularly during longer exposure times. The heat generated in the process is specifically utilised to regulate the temperature of the optics and prevent the front lens from fogging up on cold or damp nights.
With an IP56 protection rating, Draco is designed for use in varying weather and environmental conditions. The housing is protected against dust and powerful water jets, making it suitable for mobile use in the open air.
An additional 1/1.55-inch wide-angle camera expands the smart telescope´s range of functions. It assists with orientation in the sky and selecting the desired frame, whilst also enabling images of large areas of the sky, such as the Milky Way. The telephoto and wide-angle cameras can be used simultaneously, allowing both the wider surroundings and the actual subject to be captured.
For additional creative possibilities, the CMOS sensor can be physically rotated. This allows the image format to be flexibly adapted to the subject, which is particularly advantageous for vertical or diagonal compositions.
In addition to classic Alt-Az operation, the Draco also supports an EQ mode. This enables longer and more precise tracking, thereby expanding the possibilities for deep-sky photography.
The Draco´s range of applications extends from deep-sky imaging and photography of the Moon and planets, through Milky Way images, to star trail photography, time-lapse and panoramic photography. The smart telescope thus combines high-performance astronomical optics with automated tracking, integrated image processing and versatile imaging functions.
The Draco Smart Telescope is available in two versions:
The standard version of the DWARFLAB Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco includes astronomy filters (UV/IR cut filters), dark-frame filter, integrated ND solar filters (OD=5) for wide-angle and telephoto optics, and an dual-band line filter (H-alpha+[O III], half-width 13±3 nm). The SHO version, the DWARFLAB Smart Telescope MC 90/340 Draco SHO, includes astronomical filters (UV/IR cut filters), a dark-frame filter, an integrated ND solar filter (OD=5) for wide-angle optics, an external ND solar filter (OD=5) for telephoto optics, a dual-band line filter H-alpha+ [O III] (half-width of 13±3 nm each), and a dual-band line filter [S II]+[O III] (half-width of 13±3 nm each). This version therefore allows for imaging using the so-called Hubble palette.
The standard version is the right choice for the vast majority of users, whilst the SHO version is a particular treat for astrophotography specialists.
