Celestron Advanced VX GoTo mount for mobile astronomy and astrophotography

The AVX astronomical mount from Celestron for telescopes up to 14 kg. With a weight of only 7.7 kg (mount head without tripod and without counterweights), the mount is still very portable. With the Berlebach Report tripod BE12076AVX you have a very transportable combination for mobile observation and astrophotography that is suitable for air travel. The tripod weighs only 3.6 kg and can be extended up to 116 cm. The tripod has a circular bubble level and offers very good vibration damping despite its weight. A generous storage tray offers enough space for accessories.

The advantages of the Advanced VX mount at a glance:

Heavy-duty mechanics and convenient operation - large non-slip adjustment screws, reinforced motors, reinforced mount walls offer good stability even with heavy telescopes. The latitude can be easily adjusted even at maximum load.

State-of-the-art software - the AVX mount is supplied with the cold-resistant NexStar+ hand controller. A modern computer control system with over 40,000 objects is supplied.

Movement up to 20° beyond the meridian passage - astrophotographers will particularly like the generous range after the meridian passage. No premature reversal - long exposures can be taken for longer.

Polar alignment made easy - with the AVX you no longer have to set the pole star using the polar finder. Align the mount roughly to the north (compass is sufficient), carry out a 2-star alignment and then call up the "All-Star Polar Alignment". The software will now help you to perfectly align the mount within a few minutes. Of course, the AVX also offers the conventional polar finder connection.

Versatile and upgradeable - the mount naturally has an autoguider input, Mini USB port and two AUX ports (e.g. for the SkyPortal WiFi module or the StarSense AutoAlign module). In addition to autoguiders for astrophotography, you can also control the mount remotely via smartphone, for example.

Betreff: The Celestron Advanced VX mount is way too cheap ;) ... Dominik Dierick 14.August2013

This mount is *fantastic*. I already had good experiences visually, but photographically it works as good as my former Mach 1 GTO. Periodic error is extremely low, guiding stays below 0.1 pixel with an STT8300 camera on my TMB 92SS - on my balcony, with all environment vibrations from busses and trains in the nearby station. Would you believe I did not obtain these values with the Mach 1??? Crazy!!

Can I work with a dual mount?

Yes, every Celestron GoTo mount can be used with a dual mount, where the telescopes are rotated 90°.

The software has the option (OTA Orientation), this menu item can be found either under Utilities or under Settings. There you can choose if the tube points to north (default) or to east or west when the mount is in the home position. You have the home position when the index marks are in line.
