The hobby of amateur astronomy often takes the observer away from AC sources. After all, we are always looking for the darkest sky possible, and that often means going off the grid. The most common way to power your telescope in these situations is to use a portable 12 V battery pack, such as the Celestron PowerTank, or to use power from the car battery via the cigarette lighter.

The Celestron Car Battery Adapter is the accessory needed to connect many Celestron computerized telescopes to a DC power supply (like TSPowerset-12Ah) or car battery. Plug the coaxial power connector into the 12 V input jack on the drive base of your telescope and plug the power connector into the cigarette lighter socket in your car or on your power supply. The cable is 7.5 meters long, so you have enough range between your telescope and the 12 V power source.

The DC plug can be used with any telescope that uses a current input socket with an outer diameter of 5.5 mm and an inner diameter of 2.1 mm and an internal positive contact.
