TS 2" flattener and corrector for Ritchey-Chrétien telescopes

RC telescopes offer a well corrected field which is relatively flat. However, with sensors largen than 25 mm diameter, the stars are distorted in the peripheral areas. This corrector eliminates this field error, making it possible to use larger sensors with high resolution. The optical basis is the proven TSRCFLAT2, which is already used in many RC telescopes. Now we have combined the corrector with adapters that allow connection to the well-known RC telescopes from GSO without calculations and adaptations.

Connecting the corrector to the RC telescope

The corrector is installed in a 2" housing. Simply insert the corrector into the 2" receptacle of the focuser as far as it will go and clamp it. The stop also allows you to rotate or remove the corrector. The position is reproducible. By countersinking the corrector into the focuser, the focus is easy to reach and the focuser is not strained by a lever effect.

Connecting the camera to the corrector

The working distance from the M48x0.75 thread on the camera side is 55 mm. This is a standard in astrophotography. For all DSLR and system cameras, T-adapters for M48 are available to reach exactly this distance. You will find suitable adapters in the accessories section. Many astro cameras are also available with the appropriate adapters.

This corrector offers another special feature: you can extend the working distance from 55 mm to 75 mm, for example for connecting an off-axis guider. You only need to unscrew the 20 mm M48 extension.

Application example with the TSOAG16 OFF-AXIS-Guider
The TSOAG16 is a stable OFF-AXIS guider. By flexibly adjusting the prism, you can also use larger sensors. This is how to to achieve the 55 mm working distance from the M48 thread of the TSOAG16:

Unscrew the 20 mm M48 extension from the corrector

Screw on the TSOAG16 and the TSOAG9-M48.

Screw the TSVF203 3mm M48 extension to the M48 adapter.

This gives you the option of guiding and at the same time restores the working distance of 55 mm. You will find the required items in the accessories section.
