SkyWatcher EQ6-R SkyScan PRO- equatorial GoTo mount
The successor to the proven EQ6 SkyScan or SynScan mount has taken over the good properties of this mount. Skywatcher has constructed this mount even more precisely and more stable. With the EQ6-R, amateur astronomers now have an excellent mount for astrophotography with medium-heavy telescopes up to 20 kg weight at their disposal.

The provided computerized hand controller allows aiming the telescope to a specific object and offers tours across the current night sky just at the push of a button. The user-friendly menu system with its comprehensive database allows automatic locating and tracking of more than 42,000 astronomical objects. English is preselected as menu language but you also can select other languages like French or German.

Manuals
In case you want to read the manual before buying or just lost yours, you can get the PDF from here: EQ6-R_en_01461886602.pdf

There is also a manual for the hand controller, the PDF is available from here: Synscan-Goto-manual.pdf

Please pay attention when using mount control over the computer:
On the EQ6, the RJ45 jack of the hand controller is directly above the USB jack for the computer control. If you plug the USB connector for the computer control into the socket for the hand control, it sparks and the main board is damaged and must be replaced. We therefore recommend that you always close the socket that is not needed so that nothing happens in the dark.

Important note about power supply:
To avoid loss of warranty, please use only the power supplies and mobile supplies recommended by us. Especially simple car batteries or sealed lead-acid batteries can lead to an under-supply, which can then damage the sensitive electronics of the mount. Operating a Skywatcher GoTo mount with a non-proprietary power supply not recommended by us is at your own risk. Thank you for your understanding. Question:
The EQ6-R has a USB port that can be used to directly control the mount via a USB A/B cable. Which chipset is in the mount??].

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
According to Skywatcher there is a Prolific chipset inside. Please note that this connector may only be used after the mount has been switched on and supplied with power, otherwise the motherboard will be damaged. The same applies to the USB connector on the V5 hand control..

"Montierung begeistert mich. Top."

First of all, buying this mount was a great experience with Teleskop Service. I bought it last year when there was a shortage of telescope mounts, and this was the only website that had it (even if it was with a few months delay).
When I first received the mount, the snap port was broken so I had to send it back. The process of returning the scope went smoothly and quickly, and I soon got it back all fixed.
Now that I´ve had a bit of time using the mount, I can say it is very sturdy (I am using it with an 8" Newtonian) and performs well. That comes with a little downside : travelling with it can be a bit of a pain, but that´s not a big hindrance.
I´ve had a couple nights when the mount stopped moving and I could hear the motors struggling, but I´m not sure if that´s because of my bad balance or a fault in the mount.

All in all, I recommend this mount!

"Yet to test this actually on a full session but from the little testing I have done the guiding accuracy has been excellent for both my RC and refractor. It?s very quiet also. One negative is that the mount is quite heavy so there isn?t really the option to mount telescope and accessories and move it afterwards unless you are strong enough to lift cars. A bit in the heavy end for ease of use in a mobile fashion. I have a home observatory so this is not an issue as it never moves. All in all I like the sturdiness, the look and it appears to track very very well. Would recommended."

Stromaufnahme unerwartet hoch (doch kein Problem). Verarbeitung gut. Stabilität / Tragkraft gut. Nachteil: Synscyn ohne Echtzeituhr."
