Explore Scientific Ultra Light Dobsonian 406 mm aperture in metal truss design
A Dobsonian telescope stands for maximal observing pleasure with as little cost of materials as possible and at a favourable price. Explore Scientific has applied this principle with its Dobsonian telescopes and complemented complemented it by state-of-the-art materials. The reult is a high-quality telescope with large aperture and very good mechanics. The Dobsonian is optimized for transport and fast operation.

The advantages and features of the ES 16" Dobsonian at a glance:
Tool-free collimation of both mirrors
The primary mirror can be collimated from the front, thus optimal collimation can be achieved within minutes by only one person
Large altitude wheels and solid mechanics provide smooth movement even at high magnifications
Secondary unit and altitude wheels fit into the rocker box. The base with the main mirror is a transport box at the same time - closable with a cover. You only have to move two aluminium cases and the trusses
The telescope can ealily be moved, set-up and aligned by one person. The heaviest part weighs only 23.8 kg.
Aluminium design offers high stiffness and is significantly more durable than wood constructions
The BK7 mirror is quickly acclimatised to the ambient temperature by two fans. The telescope is ready for use within minutes.
16" aperture offer mximum resolution for moon and planets - usually limited only by the atmosphere. Many bright nebulae show first colours. Spot the spiral structure of galaxies and resolve globular clusters to the centre.

The performance is great at this low price. I am very satisfied.
However, the red dot finder has room for improvement.
One is its quality. It isn´t solid and looks like an accessory on a toy telescope. The other is the mounting position of the finder. It should be considered that it can be attached to both sides of the focussor.
I have a weak vision of the left eye, so it is very difficult to use in the original position.
Therefore, I had to add a mounting position and replace it a new finder.

Probably best 16" ultra light dobsonian for it´s price on the market ! Have used it for 1 complete season for now, very happy ! Optics are decent, mechanics are much better than on the 1´st version that came out few years ago, lot´s of small mistakes were fixed here.
