Skywatcher AZ-GTi - alt-azimuth GoTo Mount Head without tripod
The exciting new lightweight (1.3 kg) and highly portable Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi Alt-Azimuth Mount, with its built-in WiFi module, has been designed to be controlled wirelessly with your smartphone or tablet, using the free SynScan app for iOS or Android.

The AZ-GTi creates its very own Wi-Fi network, so the mount can be used anywhere, without any reliance on other WiFi networks. After entering your coordinates into the app and following a simple alignment procedure, you are ready to explore the universe using the App's intuitive touchscreen menu.

The AZ-GTi and SynScan App provides full computerised GO-TO control, allowing your telescope to be automatically slewed to any one of the objects in the App's extensive database of 10,000+ celestial objects.

Incorporates Sky-Watcher's Freedom-Find patented Dual-Encoder Technology, which allows the telescope to be moved manually in either axis without the mount losing its positional information. This gives the user enormous freedom, convenience and flexibility during observational sessions.

The mount is quiet in operation, has a payload capacity of up to 5 kg and accepts telescopes with standard 45 mm (Vixen/Skywatcher style) dovetail bars.

If you prefer a mount with tripod, item AZ-GTI could be a better choice. The mount is the same, but it comes with a tripod with accessory tray.

Special application as compact tracker for astrophotography
The mount is also used by astrophotographers as a platform for astrophotography with small focal lengths. The advantage here is also the GoTo system. You swivel automatically to the object. To make the mount fit for this particular application, you need:
polar wedge for equatorial installation
ART8266 (adapter for polar finder)
PFGP (polar finder)
and of course the matching tripod - for example a photo tripod

Important note about power supply:
To avoid loss of warranty, please use only the power supplies and mobile supplies recommended by us. Especially simple car batteries or sealed lead-acid batteries can lead to an under-supply, which can then damage the sensitive electronics of the mount. Operating a Skywatcher GoTo mount with a non-proprietary power supply not recommended by us is at your own risk. Thank you for your understanding. Question:
My AZ-GTi reacts upside down to an altitude adjustment in altazimuth mode. How can I change this??

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
One possibility is to mount the telescope tube the other way around, but then the finder shoe is in an unfavorable position and with Newtonians the focuser too.

It is better to replace the firmware with one for altazimuth operation only. The link is:
http://skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/
Take "Firmware: Universal DC Motor Driver with Built-in Wi-Fi, Version 3.36" and the mount will be in the standard configuration for altazimuth operation.

"Great little mount, very portable and easy to use. Alignment with 2 stars works great and tracking stays quite stable even after a couple of hours. Power consumption seems very low too. I use an external power bank and after more than 10 hours of usage it is still displaying full charge "
