Founder Optics 86 mm f/6.5 Apochromat
The FOT-86 triplet refractor from Founder Optics has an aperture of 86 mm and a focal length of 560 mm. It is particularly characterized by its versatility and transportability. The refractor delivers excellent visual experiences and is the ideal telescope to always have with you, especially when traveling. However, with its short focal length, the FOT-86 is also ideal for astrophotography, where it can show its strengths of a large field of view in combination with excellent chromatic correction. With a weight of only 4.4 kg, the instrument can be easily carried even by small mounts.

Excellent Optics:

Founder Optics´ high-performance apochromats are designed by Japanese optical designers and manufactured/adjusted with high precision by Long Perng, a well-known and reliable optical parts manufacturer in Taiwan. Glass combinations of an FPL53 lens, an FPL51 lens, and a lanthanum glass lens excellently correct chromatic aberration and spherical aberration. These triplets with high refractive index and large distances between the individual lenses, as used by other Japanese optics manufacturers, ensure high contrast and good image quality.

High manufacturing quality:

The high-quality precision optics also require a stable tube. This is completely CNC-machined in the FOT series and has a retractable dew shield. The double tube rings come with a handle and additional screw holes to allow further accessories to be attached. The tube is painted a classy high-gloss black and highlighted with green rings and tube rings. The stable hybrid focuser is fully rotatable, which is especially important for astrophotographers, and has a drawtube locking. Inside, the tube has a finely ribbed matte finish to eliminate light reflections. Especially noteworthy is that the FOT apochromats are generally delivered including Ronchi test and star test protocol.

Large scope of delivery:

The telescope is delivered in a foam-lined aluminum case. In addition to the refractor with aluminum tube, it contains tube rings with carrying handle and GP dovetail bar as well as a shoe for mounting a finder. It is especially remarkable that the manufacturer includes a matching 1.0x flattener with M48 thread, which is optimized for the system. So if you want to start directly in photography, you are perfectly equipped with a Founder Optics apochromat. The overall package is rounded off by the rotatable and patented 2" hybrid-style rack and pinion focuser with ball bearings, including 1:10 reduction with a load capacity of up to 8 kg. Accessories are accommodated via integrated and practical 2-inch and 1.25-inch ring clamp systems.
