The 80 mm Guiding Scope is the right solution for astrophotographers who want a quality guiding scope with large aperture. You never will have problems to find a guiding star. The guiding scope fits standard finder shoes so you will have no problems with adaption.

The TSL80D is also a very powerful finder scope. 80 mm aperture shows hundreds deep-sky objects. The scope is a very powerful rich-field refractor. The scope also can be used as a video finder for remote observatories.

The 1.25" / T2 Non Rotating Helical Focuser:

The non rotating helical focuser allows precise focusing. If optimal sharpness is reached, just tighten the locking screw. The star remains exactly on its position without tilting or shifting. The focuser has 1.25" and T2 connection on the eyepiece and camera side.

Use of autoguiders with 1.25" housing, such as ASI120MINI or Lodestar: The focus is between 9 mm and 19 mm behind the 1.25" port. So the sensor would be too far inside. We simply recommend a good 1.25" adapter that screws onto the T2 thread. Suitable adapters are linked. Then the camera can be mounted easily, without focus problems.

Many cameras, like the ZWO MINI Guider, come with a 1.25" extension. With this you can also focus well. The extension should be turned out completely. However, you must not insert the camera completely.

Suggestion from Teleskop Service:

M-Gen an das TSL80D perfect for photography

M-Gen and TSL60D - good for AstrophotographyImage: M-Gen with TSL60D

TSL80D and M-Gen are a good team for photography. With this combination you can guide focal lengths to 3000mm.

M-Gen: back focus 7mm from the T-thread
TSL80D: Focal plane 19mm (inner position) + 4mm T2 thread length = 23mm
Focus range TSL80D: 8mm
One 10mm T2 extension (TST2V10) is needed.

Adaptation of eyepieces:

Due to the focal plane of 19 mm behind the 1.25" receptacle and the relatively small focus range of 8 mm, we recommend an extension in order to bring an eyepiece into focus.

Eyepieces with 1.25" filter thread: TSVF1 (just screw this extension into the eyepiece´s filter thread)
Eyepieces without filter thread (e.g. TSIR20): TST2-1-T2s (Just screw this adapter into the focuser´s T-thread)
