iOptron HAZ71 Alt-Az Strain Wave Mount
This light weight, compact, medium payload HAZ71 mount will deliver an astronomy experience like never before. With a mount head weighing in at 8.3 kg, HAZ71 has a payload capability 31 kg, without needing a cumbersome counterweight or shaft. HAZ mounts will support a large variety of instruments that flexibility is needed for outreach programs and satellite tracking. The multi position saddle (can be placed on top or to the side) uniquely sets up the HAZ71 to accommodate binoculars. Just turn the mount on, it will calibrate itself and GoTo the first target utilizing the time tested "Level and Go" technology.

Utilizing state of the art strain wave gear technology for both RA and DEC movement, the HAZ71 deliver unparalleled weight to payload efficiency. Its black anodized all metal CNC machined body is not only appealing to the eye, it´s a rugged platform that will perform at the highest level for many years to come. Unique features such as an electronic friction brake on both AZ and ALT allows the mount safely stop.

Controllable via computer and smartphone/tablet
An HAZ71 mount can be controlled by a computer, either via ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third party INDI driver for a MacOS software; a SmartPhone/Tablet via iOptron Commander Lite or an App like SkySafari; or a Raspberry Pi device via INDI driver.

Strain Wave Gear (Harmonic Drive)
Instead of worm gears, a new type of reducer called strain wave gear (harmonic drive) is used. Almost no backlash and no maintenance is required. As it is widely used in industrial robots, it is very durable.

The mount is not supplied with a battery, but customers within the EU (road transport) can order it (IO8959) from us and install it themselves. You can find the instructions here: haz-battery-installation.pdf

Question:
Is the supplied AC/DC adapter also suitable for charging the battery?

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
Yes, the supplied mains adapter with 12.6 volt output voltage can charge the IO8959 battery via the normal power input socket of the mount. The battery should be fully charged before use, as indicated by the LED indicator changing color from red to green. Overcharging is not to be feared.
