Rowan Astronomy AZ75 25 mm Counterweight Shaft with M16 Thread

This rod is helpful for balancing the AZ75 mount when it holds only one telescope. It accepts up to three counterweights (linked below, 3.8 kg each) and is connected to a saddle via an M16 thread.

How many counterweights to order?

Scopes under 5 kg you can usually mount without counterweight.

For scopes from 5 to 8 kg choose 1 counterweight.

For scopes from 9 kg to 14 kg choose 2 counterweights.

For scopes from 15 kg to 20 kg choose 3 counterweights.

These figures are approximate and equate to counterweights of 1/2 to 2/3 the weight of the OTA.
