IDAS GNB Filter: Galaxy and Nebula Filter

The transmission curve of the GNB is comparable to that of the IDAS NBZ narrowband nebula filter. Unlike the IDAS NBZ, however, the GNB opens up in the near-infrared range, thus allowing the use of this portion of the spectrum. The idea behind the development of this filter is based on the fact that the near-infrared range is hardly affected by artificial light pollution.

The GNB filter is useful with a camera that is sensitive to the near-infrared spectrum, such as cameras with IMX585 or IMX464 sensors. Of course, this camera must not have a built-in UV/IR cut filter, but at most an AR coating - that is, a filter that also transmits infrared light. In addition, the optics used should also provide good correction in the infrared spectrum. RASA telescopes offer good correction in the near-infrared spectrum.
