Antlia H-alpha (Ha) 4.5nm EDGE Narrowband Filter
Antlia H-alpha EDGE narrowband filters optimize the FWHM (full width half maximum) to 4.5 nm bandpass. The suppression of unwanted wavelengths (optical density OD5) and the excellent transmittance characteristics found in the Antlia 3 nm Pro series has been incorporated into the 4.5 nm EDGE narrowband filters. The result is that these filters deliver superior SNR (signal to noise ratio) and better contrast in your images.

Antlia H-alpha 4.5nm EDGE filters are designed to deliver high transmittance at the 656.3 nm line that provides you with the maximum signal to reveal the faintest H-alpha nebulae structures.

Conventional broader narrowband filters cause a heavy loss in transmission due to the strong center wavelength (CWL) shift. Antlia guarantees T>90% within 1 nm range of the center wavelength, which means that the H-alpha 4.5nm EDGE narrowband filters can guarantee high transmittance for working with both long focal ratios and fast optical systems. Blue-shift data shows that Antlia 4.5nm EDGE filters can be used with nearly all systems as fast as f/3 with minimal loss in emission signal and meet the requirements of fast optics.

The quality features of this Antlia EDGE narrowband filter at a glance:
High light transmission and narrow bandwidth to maximize contrast
Steep spectral profile minimizes halos around bright stars
Single substrate to eliminate internal reflections
Narrowband objects: H-alpha emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, Wolf Rayet nebulae and supernova remnants
Use in light-polluted areas and dark locations
Extends exposure time in moonlight conditions
Antlia narrowband EDGE filters can be used with low signal loss down to f/3 systems
All unmounted Antlia narrowband filters are blackened at the edges to prevent internal reflections of stray light
Superior optical reliability reduces post-processing of the image
This filter only effective for deep sky objects that contain H-alpha emissions.

A test by our customer Torsten Müller
Our customer Torsten Müller has used the 31 mm filters in a 7 x 1.25" filter wheel from ZWO with a TS 76EDPH telescope and a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro camera. His test report is comprehensive and can be downloaded as PDF, but the test images alone are already very helpful:

Object: Christmas Tree Cluster and Cone Nebula
Photographer: Torsten Müller
Telescope: TS 76EDPH
Mount: Skywatcher AZ-EQ5
Imaging camera: ZWO ASI1600MM Pro
Filters: Antlia 4.5 nm EDGE - AHA431MM, AO431MM, AS431MM
Exposure: 15x 5 min each channel

Object: Rosette Nebula
Photographer: Torsten Müller
Telescope: TS 76EDPH
Mount: Skywatcher AZ-EQ5
Imaging camera: ZWO ASI1600MM Pro
Filters: Antlia 4.5 nm EDGE - AHA431MM, AO431MM, AS431MM
Exposure: 10x 10 min each channel
Bortle class: 4

We thank Torsten Müller for providing these very nice images.

Question:
Do I have to pay attention to the orientation of the filter when installing it??

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
The installation direction of the filter does not affect the imaging result of deep sky photography. This is because both sides are coated to improve transmission rate and cut-off data, and it is no longer necessary to determine which side faces the cameras for optimal performance.
