IDAS GNB Filter Galaxy and Nebula Filter

The passband of the GNB is comparable to the IDAS NBZ narrowband nebula filter. Unlike the latter, however, the GNB opens up in the near infrared range and thus allows the use of this light range. The idea to develop this filter is based on the fact that the near infrared range is hardly influenced by artificial light pollution.

The GNB filter makes sense with a camera that is sensitive in the near infrared range, such as cameras with IMX585 or IMX464 sensors. Of course, this camera must also not have a built-in UV/IR blocking filter, but at most an AR protective glass, meaning a filter that also lets the infrared through. In addition, the optics used should also have good correction in the infrared. Of course, purely reflective optics without a corrector are ideal.
