IDAS NB filters are specially designed for astrophotography

The NB12 filter is a dual line-pass filter that can be used with one-shot color (OSC) cameras such as DSLRs, mirrorless system cameras, or astronomical cameras.

The NB12 filter lets the red H-alpha line and the blue-green OIII lines through and increases the contrast. You get narrow band images with only one exposure series. The resulting images can be used to improve the contrast of traditional RGB images or to create images in various common false color palettes.

The NB12 filter is especially designed for fast optics like RASA, Hyperstar or fast camera lenses (high speed nebula filter), but it can also be used on telescopes and lenses with f/5 or slower. If you want to use telescopes and camera lenses with different light intensities, the NB12 is the better choice.

The NB12 filter utilizes the IGAD (ion-Gun AssistDeposition) coating technology which has been applied to our regular filters such as the LPS-D3 and NBZ series. The IGAD technology densifies the multi-layers - the heart of interference filters - resulting in the physical properties that cannot be obtained from the conventional multi-layers.
1) Highly durable thin layers of which hardness equals to quartz glasses. Tremendously improved adherence between the substrate and the multi-layers set.
2) Absolutely almost no aging variation in optical spectral characteristics due to temperature and humidity change as far as used in the regular human living environments.
