Measuring light curves for the detection of exoplanetsEven with amateur instruments and cameras, it is possible to make quantitative measurements of small differences in brightness that indicate the passage of an exoplanet in front of a star.
A blue-blocking filter facilitates the detection, as it has most of the high signal-to-noise advantages associated with unfiltered observing, yet it has most of the reduced systematics advantages associated with V-band and R-band observing.
