Skywatcher AZ EQ6 GT / EQ and Alt-AZ GoTo Mount
The Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 is the perfect solution for amateur astronomers who want the benefit of an azimutal and an equatorial GoTo mount but without the disadvantages of them.
Features: intelligent astronomic platform with dual azimuthal and equatorial GoTo control box switch in seconds from equatorial to azimutal mode stability like the EQ6 Synscan in the equatorial mode better polar wedge, better counterweight shaft 26% lighter than the original EQ6 mount (mount head weighs only 15 kg) very stable mount for a second telescope on the end of the counterweight bar - also good for guiding scopes the data base includes more than 42900 objects optical encoders, the control box holds the coordinates also when you move the mont without motors belt drive trasmission - less backlashAdvantages against a azimutal Goto fork mount: more transportable (you can split the telescope to mount and optical tube) more flexibility - you can decide which telescope you want more stability in equatorial mode - fork mounts reduces their stability when you use it with a wedgeAdvantages against a simple parallactic mount: you can decide if you want to work in the more comfortable azimutal mode (no polar alignment) OR in the equatorial mode for astrophotographyBetter polar wedge with quided thread:You can adjust the lattitude without problems with mounted telescope!
Important note about power supply:
To avoid loss of warranty, please use only the power supplies and mobile supplies recommended by us. Especially simple car batteries or sealed lead-acid batteries can lead to an under-supply, which can then damage the sensitive electronics of the mount. Operating a Skywatcher GoTo mount with a non-proprietary power supply not recommended by us is at your own risk. Thank you for your understanding. Here is the link to more information:

Starting the AZ-EQ6 from the park position
Switching off
- After observing or photographing, use the arrow keys to move the telescope to the desired park position.
- Select "Utility functions > Park scope > Current position" from the menu. The control unit will then indicate that the mount can be switched off.
- Switch off the mount and disconnect it from the power supply if needed.
Switching on
- After switching on, a question appears asking whether the mount should be started from the parking position; this must be confirmed.
- Press OK, then re-enter the date, time, etc. (e.g., from the appropriate app).
- To check, select an object visible at the relevant time from the object list, let the mounbt slew to it, and check the position with the finder scope, eyepiece, or camera.
Question:
How can I connect the hand controller to the PRO mount if the port for the hand controller is already connected to the EQMOD cable?
Answer from Teleskop-Service:
You can connect either the hand controller or the EQMOD/EQDIR cable. If you control the mount remotely via the computer, a hand controller is no longer necessary.
