Skywatcher Heritage 130P FlexTube Dobson - 130 mm parabolic optics - from 6 J
This telescope was specially designed to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) and the 400th anniversary of Galileo Galilei´s first telescope. Therefore it is not only a versatile, high-quality optical instrument, but also a beautiful collector´s item and a great gift. The tube is inscribed with the names of many famous people who have led to further developments and achievements in astronomy over this 400 year period, including Galileo Galilei himself.

However, this compact Sky-Watcher Dobsonian telescope is not an undersized telescope for the showcase, which only shows a handful of celestial objects, but contains the same high-quality parabolic primary mirror as the well-known Explorer 130P. This makes it an excellent and versatile all-rounder, allowing wonderful observations of the moon and planets, but also deep-sky objects. In fact, the instrument has 30% more light collecting area than one of the popular 114 mm entry-level telescopes.

The patented FlexTube tube, which can be pushed together to a length of 37 cm, makes it particularly easy to transport and requires little space. The manually swiveling Dobsonian includes an alt-azimuth mount that is particularly easy to operate, making it a highly portable system that you can simply take with you wherever you go. The telescope comes completely assembled in an attractive gift box.

The Heritage 130P is optimized for observation
The Dobson has a good parabolic primary mirror. So not only thousands of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies can be observed, but also details on the moon´s surface and planets. Among others are already visible:
Phase structure of Mercury and Venus
Details on the lunar surface, like textures in the crater walls or rilles
The polar caps of Mars
The Great Red Spot of Jupiter
The rings of Saturn with the familiar Cassini division

So easy is the handling of the Heritage 130P
The Heritage is a classic Dobsonian. The operation is therefore very simple.
Place the compact unit on a level surface
Extend the tube and fix the rods in the outermost position
Insert the eyepiece into the focuser and begin observation.
The focus is adjusted by simply turning the knurled ring of the focuser
By moving the tube horizontally and verticaly, you can easily reach any point on the horizon and in the sky.

Extendable to a fully-fledged amateur telescope
The Heritage 130P accommodates 1.25" eyepieces and accessories. This allows you to use suitable planetary cameras and take your first pictures of lunar craters and planets.

The Newtonian is connected to the alt-azimuth table mount with an EQ5 style dovetail bar. You can attach the telescope to an equatorial mount with tracking at any time without any changes to the telescope. The EQ3 for example holds the light Newtonian very well and offers all possibilities up to automatic object positioning.

"It had been a chore to set up my equatorial mount + refractor in the back yard. Now this scope is truly grab & go. Works on ANY reasonably flat surface. Traveling with my family, it´s also easy to bring in a compact car. Just pack in the original shipping box, and it´s ready to go."
