Inspection and adjustment of focusers
The focuser is an essential part of the telescope, it must keep the eyepiece or camera stable, allow precise adjustment and of course not cause tilting. In short, a good focuser is crucial for the functioning of the telescope.

We check and optimize your focuser. The prerequisite is that we have this focuser or telescopes with this focuser in our range. If a repair is necessary, such as replacing the bearings, we will be happy to provide a quote if the costs are not covered by this check.

We recommend that you only send us the focuser, not the whole telescope. The focuser can be easily removed from the tube on all telescopes. This prevents unnecessary transportation costs and possible damage to the sensitive optics

After checking and optimization, the focuser is also tested under load. The adjustment must be able to move a weight of 1 kg upwards and the focuser must not slip.

A common cause of error - the speed reduction does not engage correctly:

One example of our optimizations is the setting of the reduction ratio on the focuser (see preview image). If the 1:1 transmission is effective and the speed reduction is not, then the connection of the speed reduction to the shaft is not optimal. In this case, we proceed as follows:
The shaft with the reduction is removed.
If necessary, we remove the shaft to make it easier to reach the nut.
This nut must be tightened carefully.
Sometimes this nut is secured with an adhesive by the manufacturer, this must be removed with a little solvent.
The nut must only be tightened very carefully, if it is tightened too tightly, the bearing balls will press into the shaft and cause a jerking every 120° rotation, the focuser will then become out of round.
The procedure may have to be repeated several times.
The speed reduction must be able to move a weight of approx. 1 kg upwards and must not slip.
When adjusting the adjustment, we fix the nut with a drop of glue.

This is just one of the many jobs we do to ensure that your focuser works optimally again.
