QHY Filter Wheel CFW3L for 7x 2" or 50 mm Filters

This filter wheel enables a remote-controlled and even automatic filter change, especially with ALccd QHY cameras.

The Series 3 ALccd-QHY filter wheels are the logical further development of the Series 1 and 2 predecessors, which have proven themselves over many years. Both the mechanical and electronic design have been improved and adapted in line with the times.

The CFW3 has a communication port for direct connection to ALccd QHY cameras (with filter wheel socket), but of course also has a USB interface for third-party cameras, which ensures power supply as well as data communication.

Moreover, the ALccd-QHY filter wheels are still among the most compact, lightest and yet most stable filter wheels on the market.

The new ALccd-QHY CFW3 filter wheels are available in three sizes: small (CFW3S), medium (CFW3M) and large (CFW3L).

Description of this model
The ALccd-QHY CFW3L filter wheel is designed to hold seven 2-inch screw-in filters or unmounted 50 mm filters.

Both connection threads are M54x0.75, so that no vignetting can occur.

The CFW3L filter wheel model is one of the flattest and lightest motorized 2" wheels.It has a thickness of only 21.5 mm (without plug-in adapter) and weighs just 911 g including plug-in adapter.

So that the filter wheel can also be operated independently of an ALccd QHY camera, we supply it with a universal USB connection and suitable software driver.

Some general features of the CFW3 filter wheels

The new and optimized friction wheel drive allows reproducible positioning of the individual filters, which is very useful for the production of precise flatfields.

The central axis of the filter carrier is guided by a precise ball bearing, not a plain bearing.

The filter wheel is designed so that the thickness of the unmounted filters can range from 0.7 to 5.0 mm (CFW3M-SR version), so that Baader screw-in filters also fit.

In addition to the USB port, the CFW3 filter wheel also has the obligatory RJ12 port to which you can connect the communication cable to the ALccd-QHY camera (camera models with filter wheel port). In this case, it is therefore not necessary to connect a USB cable to the CFW3.

Like almost all ALccd products, the CFW3 ALccd filter wheel also has ASCOM drivers. This means you can operate it via any ASCOM-capable software, such as MaxIm DL, AstroArt or the free EZCap_qt if you have an ALccd QHY camera.
