Omegon ADC: For sharp planetary photos, even close to the horizon

Every observer knows this situation: Saturn appears close to the horizon. When viewed through a telescope, it looks like a blurry disc. A smudge in the sky. Planetary photos are not worth taking at this point, because the light is refracted by the dense and thick layers of the atmosphere. Color fringes appear! We would have to wait hours for the planet to rise higher. But the position of the planetary orbit does not always allow this. The solution is the ADC from Omegon. The key feature: two prisms that can be rotated against each other. These simulate a kind of color aberration of their own, but one that acts in exactly the opposite direction to the dispersion of the atmosphere, thus compensating for it.

Three-part kit: ADC with two adapters and T-thread
The dispersion corrector has a modular design and consists of three parts:

1.25" barrel with T2 thread

Center piece: ADC with prisms

T2 to 1.25" eyepiece adapter with additional T2 thread and spring ring clamp

Installation could not be easier: the ADC fits any telescope with a 1.25" or T2 connection. It can also be used without an adapter. Advantage: you can also use the two adapters for other purposes, which you would otherwise have to purchase separately.

Adjustable BK7 prisms with high light transmission
The two wedge-shaped BK7 prisms feature broadband coating and deliver high light transmission. In visible light, the ADC achieves a transmission of up to 99%. This means you still get the bright images of the planets you are used to. Two small levers allow you to shift the prisms by 2.5°. This is more than with some other models. This allows you to continuously adjust for low or very high color deviation. The result: even better dispersion correction - especially at the horizon. Another plus: a rotatable ring scale allows you to quickly find the optimal setting for your next observation.

When and why should you use the Omegon ADC?
The ADC is a special corrector for observers and photographers of planets. In addition, the planets Saturn and Jupiter will only reach low altitudes above the horizon in the coming years. Without an ADC corrector, you would have to put up with detailed, even "mushy" looking planets for a long time. With the ADC, you can avoid this downside. Even professionals have been using ADCs for years, even at higher declinations in the sky. This is because color errors can also be compensated for there.

Are there other objects besides planets where the ADC can be useful? Some amateurs use the ADC for observing double stars.
