A sophisticated mount for observing and astrophotography.

The mount offers very accurate tracking, as only precise and large scrolls can do. The STAR BOOK electronics allow automatic positioning of any celestial object. Over 22,500 objects are in the database.

The Sphinx Deluxe is a more stable version of the Sphinx. The mount can be loaded with up to 17 kg of instrument weight and is thus only minimally below the well-known mount EQ6 with significantly less weight and more compact dimensions.


Object selection
As with all GoTo mounts, you can select from over 22,500 objects via this input and also select any objects by entering the coordinates. Or you can use the SPHINX star chart programme: select the constellation and zoom in. Simply click on the marked object and you will get all the relevant information needed for successful observation. At the touch of a button, the mount is aligned with the selected object.


The performance data of the Sphinx Deluxe at a glance

Mount head with integrated servo motors and GoTo control.

Compared to the normal SPHINX mount, two ball bearings are used for the polar axis (right ascension), three ball bearings in the declination axis and four more ball bearings for the worm shafts for more efficient handling as well as motor relief.

Worm wheels in RA/DE made of brass for higher stiffness and load capacity (SPHINX: aluminium alloy). A lapped worm wheel on the SPHINX Deluxe improves the synchronisation characteristics immensely.

Load capacity approx. 17 kg (suitable for refractors up to approx. 150 mm aperture / reflectors up to approx. 250 mm aperture) - for astrophotographic use we recommend up to approx. 14 kg.

180-tooth precision worm drives in right ascension and declination

polar altitude adjustable from 0° to 70° latitude (tangential worm with fine adjustment over +/- 15°)

Azimuth fine adjustment integrated in mount block (flat mount end also allows combination with self-made columns!)

Optional polar finder SX with integrated circular bubble for highly accurate polar alignment

Further development of the HAL110 tripod ( HAL 130 SX ) is available (see "recommended accessories")

Tube mounting is via the proven Vixen dovetail system

The stainless steel counterweight shaft can be completely recessed into the mount (transportability!)
