Hutech Astro Mount Sightron Japan ALT-AZ
The new ultra-portable single-arm fork mount from Sightron Japan is now in production.
This deceptively simple alt-azimuth mount features a ball bearing plus worm gear and wheel on each axis rather than a basic clutch meaning there is no need to tighten / loosen once the friction is set. Use the mount manually by pushing the scope around or use the knobs (or optional flexible shafts) of the slow-motion controls for accurate adjustment.
Exquisite Japanese engineering makes this mount a pleasure to use.
Features Compact and lightweight: 240 mm x 80 mm x 90 mm (when packed down) / 1.45 kg Allows to fold for airline transport Hirth Joint: allows to adjust the arm angle at 10-degree increment while maintaining the rigidness Free stop and slow motion controls Comes with knobs for fine adjustment Compatible with one of most popular flexible cables (6 mm diameter) Telescope, tripod or slow motion cables are not included.

Testimonial from a customer
Our customer Markus Walter has written an informative field report, which we are glad to publish here:
"I have owned the new Sightron Alt-Az SIAZM B mount for a little over 4 weeks now and use it almost daily. My telescopes are a Borg 71FL and a Takahashi FOA60, which I use on the Sightron mount. What can I say, I am completely enthusiastic. The admittedly light telescopes are carried super, the slow motion controls work very well and sensitively. Just for fun I also put my Takahashi FC100DF on the mount and it is also supported and the whole thing is stable on a Berlebach Uni 18 tripod. But because of the long lever (tube about 75 cm long) it does not "feel" safe. The back pressure screw must be tightened very firmly. An 80 mm refractor should not be a problem here. But from the lever also be the limit for this mount.
About the mount, it leaves a very high-quality impression with the workmanship and has a well thought-out system. All conversion options I have not even tried. But I have not had a mount that is so variable. Just a pity that there is no manual. But with pictures in the net you can find all conversion possibilities. The arm of the mount can be quickly adjusted to a different angle and by the metal teeth is also very stable connected. For transport, the Sightron can be disassembled very small. A true travel mount.
Adjusting the back pressure on the large "wheels" works very well and sensitively. The hand wheels for manual tracking are very handy and easy to operate. It is really easy to hold objects in the starry sky that are being observed in the eyepiece. Since the Sightron mount weighs very little, it is mounted on a Rollei Alpha Mark II Carbon photo tripod. The combination of Sightron mount, Rollei tripod and Borg 71FL (5.1 kg) or FOA60 (6.5 kg) can be transported with one hand. Therefore it is possible for me to use already smaller cloud gaps for beautiful observations. Or to observe Venus, Jupiter and now in October the Orion Nebula in the morning before the twilight begins.
For me, the Sightron alt-Az is really a five star mount in its class, for small refractors up to 80 mm aperture."
Here are photos of the mentioned three telescopes on the mount:
