Houdini coma-correcting 1.25" eyepiece with 12 mm focal length and 86° field of view
For passionate stargazers the search for optical perfection is never-ending. Whether you are observing the stunning spirals of distant galaxies or admiring the intricate beauty of a globular cluster, you want nothing but the sharpest, clearest image your telescope can offer.

The problem with Newtonian telescopes: coma
Anyone who uses a Newtonian telescope is probably familiar with a common optical problem: coma. This optical aberration distorts stars at the edges of your field of view, making them appear elongated or comet-like rather than as fine points of light.

The solution: coma-correcting Houdini eyepieces
Until now, the only solution to this problem was an expensive and bulky coma corrector. With Houdini eyepieces with coma correction, you no longer need a coma corrector - the eyepiece corrects the coma and gives you a sharp and clear image.
The eyepieces also work perfectly with fast telescopes and can be used from an aperture ratio of f/3.

Houdini eyepieces can also be used with other types of telescopes
The Houdini eyepieces were designed for Newtonian telescopes with parabolic mirrors, but they will also work well with any telescope with a focal ratio of f/6 or slower (f/8, f/10, etc.). This includes slow refractors and most popular Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes.
The eyepiece is not recommended for use with fast telescope systems without parabolic mirror, such as f/5 APO refractors.

Well thought out down to the last detail
All Houdini eyepieces feature full multicoating, blackened lens edges, high index glasses, a fold-down eye guard with a cover with glow-in-the-dark labeling, comfortable rubber grips, a barrel with kerfs for trouble-free locking, and filter threads.
Houdini eyepieces are designed in-house and extensively optimized using proprietary Eyepiece Design Software. Every eyepiece is individually tested in the Houdini shop to ensure it meets high optical and cosmetic standards.
