Baader "Solar Shade"

The Solar Shade protects the eyepiece or camera against direct sunlight.

The Baader "Solar Shade" is an aluminum plate that clamps into a 2" connection. The plate shades the eyepiece or camera behind it, preventing direct sunlight. Observation becomes more comfortable and contrasty.

Practical tip:
If you clamp the sunshade directly between a receptacle and the housing of a star diagonal or Herschel wedge, you may end up touching the plate with your head. In this case, one of the linked 2" extensions (TSV235 should provide sufficient distance) can help to increase the distance. Sequence: receptacle, plate, 2" extension, housing.

You can find out the appropriate length of the extension tube by trying out all the eyepieces you are considering while observing the sun and seeing which one has the drawtube extended the least. Measure how far this is, subtract 1 mm for the plate thickness and perhaps 5 mm as focusing margin, and you have an indication of the maximum length the extension tube should be. However, if the length is less than 35 mm, a 2" extension cannot be used.
