Full 48 mm illumination is provided - in contrast to about 44 mm illumination with mounted 2" filters.

TS filter insert for unmounted 50 mm and 50.4 mm filters

Additional filter inserts for the TS filter drawer allow you to switch between different filters in seconds. You can use as many filter inserts as you like and even mix 1.25" and 2" inserts if necessary! This allows you to use any combination of filters photographically or visually.

The filter insert is suitable for unmounted 50 mm and 50.4 mm filters of any thickness.

The difference to mounted 2" filters lies in the illumination

While mounted 2" filters can serve sensors up to APS-C format without any problems, they cause shading on cameras with larger sensors, for example full frame format. The faster a telescope is and the further away the filter is mounted from the sensor, the stronger the shadowing becomes. Due to the cell, mounted filters offer only about 44 mm of free aperture, while unmounted filters with this drawer offer a full 48 mm of aperture. This is already crucial for large sensors.

Practical tips from Teleskop-Service:

We recommend one insert per filter. It is rather impractical to screw filters around during photography or observation.
