Baader 2" BBHS Diagonal Mirror with 1/10 lambda Surface, ClickLock Clamping and adjustable mirror
This Baader diagonal mirror combines perfect optics with optimal mechanics - ideal for amateur astronomers who don´t want to make compromises. You will not see any difference to straight view observing.
Adjustable mirror
A special feature of this zenith mirror is the integrated adjustment device. This allows you to precisely align the mirror and adapt it to your system. The 3-point alignment is set at the factory so that the image does not show any noticeable rotation around its center when the zenith mirror is rotated 180° in a correctly aligned eyepiece clamp. Optical and mechanical axes are perfectly aligned on optical test benches.
BBHS silver coating
BBHS Broadband Hard Silver coating with protective dielectric coating ... this coating offers perfect reflection from 400 nm to 2000 nm. You will have to want the best to decided for this diagonal miror.
Silver always had the stigma of quickly tarnishing and aging, and that was true in the past. With the hard silver coating and protective dielectric coating, this is not the case anymore. Like with other coatings from Baader, durability is not an issue anymore. According to Baader, the visual experience is absolutely the best and only comparable to straight viewing without diagonal mirror.
Safe 2" connection to the telescope
If this star diagonal mirror is connected to the telescope via a 2" connection, this is not done via a conical barrel or a barrel with a safety groove, but via a barrel with "Safety Kerf" grooves. In contrast to the first two solutions, the star diagonal cannot tilt, but is still held safely.
The ClickLock clamping
Here, the eyepiece side accessories are clamped over the whole area. In opposite to locking screws, the eyepiece or adapter is centered exactly on the optical axis and not pressed against the opposite surface.
The Baader ClickLock® System at a glance
Never before an eyepiece receptacle for amateur astronomy has been manufactured thus complex. The Baader ClickLock (1.25"/2") is a precisely fitting, very massive eyepiece clamp without locking screws (!). Inserted eyepieces / CCD cameras etc. are held twist-proof but nonetheless will not be scratched! With a small 20° rotation any eyepiece will be clamped absolutely secure.
You don´t need to tighten Baader´s ClickLock clamps until your hand is damaged, as the mechanical principle origins from professional machine construction. The tool holder of modern CNC machining centers works the same way. By clever use of leverage effects, the clamping force is enhanced to the manifold extent. The inserted item is held at three sides, like with a quick-action chuck, and thus cannot carry out tilting movements anymore.
Details of the 2" ClickLock system A 20° rotation by pressing the rotary lever is sufficient to securely hold all 2" accessories perfectly safe and firmly. Ratchet function - shows acoustic and haptic to the position of the clamp. You will be able to recognise the position of the clamp even in the dark Massive compression ring - holds the most expensive accessory totally safe with no scratches and marring The lever position can be set via 6 slotted camera screws or 6 hexagon socket head screws with hex key for making the CL clamp usable for both right-handers and left-handers.
