Desiccant container for cooled Touptek cameras

The aluminum container is filled with silica gel. It keeps the inner chamber of the camera, the area between the sensor and the protective glass, dry, reducing the risk of icing.

To keep the drying effect high, the silica gel can be easily removed from the container and replaced with fresh or reactivated in the oven at moderate heat. The heat removes the moisture from the silica gel. When it has cooled, it can be put back into the drying container.

Question:
When should the dry cartridge be screwed onto the camera?

Answer from Teleskop-Service:
Basically, the TS-Dry dry cartridge is only intended for continuous operation in slightly more humid conditions. We recommend the following:

1. the TSDry should always be stored in a suitable case together with Silica Gel. During storage, the opening should be closed with the blind screw.
2. in very dry conditions, you do not need a TS-Dry for operation on the telescope as the air is dry enough to prevent fogging.
3. in slightly more humid conditions, as is very often the case, we recommend screwing the TS-Dry on in a dust-free environment, filled with fresh silica gel of course. This should be enough for the night.
4. after using the camera and as soon as the camera has returned to room temperature (NOT when still cold!), the TS-Dry should be unscrewed and the sealing screw inserted. The desiccant in the TS-Dry should be replaced. It can be collected and then reactivated in larger quantities.
