Wanderer ETA M54 - 5 mm Electronic Tilt and Back Focus Adjuster
The Wanderer ETA M54 is an innovative electronic tilt and back focus adjuster with an ultra-thin 5mm thickness, designed to provide maximum precision in optical alignment. Ideal for demanding astrophotographers, it eliminates the need for difficult and imprecise manual adjustments, allowing for remote tilt and back focus correction.

Ultra-Thin Patented Design
Thanks to its unique structure, the Wanderer ETA M54 occupies only 5mm of back focus when directly mounted on an OAG or camera via screws. Weighing just 470g, its dual-layer nested design ensures no light leakage.

55 mm Back Focus Compatibility
When installed with a compatible OAG or camera, the Wanderer ETA M54 maintains the standard 55mm back focus, ensuring compatibility with most optical systems.

Three-Point Electronic Tilt Adjustment
The system features three independent adjustment motors and three high-precision encoders, offering:
1.2mm adjustment travel
Motor resolution of 0.005 microns per step
Positioning accuracy up to 2 microns

This provides unmatched precision, making it ideal for fast focal ratio systems and large-format sensors, significantly outperforming traditional manual tilters.

Cold-Resistant Performance
Tested under extreme conditions, the Wanderer ETA M54 remains fully operational even at -25°C, making it perfect for winter astrophotography sessions.

Advanced Structural Engineering
With over 50 components and 1000 curved surfaces, the Wanderer ETA has been engineered with precise calculations and rigorous optimizations, ensuring maximum rigidity.

Dedicated Software Support
The WandererEmpire software provides a comprehensive and user-friendly interface for full control of the tilt adjuster.

Installation, Software Usage, and Firmware upgrade guide

1. Introduction
The Wanderer ETA M54 is an innovative electronic tilt and back focus adjuster designed to allow precise, fast, and remote adjustments for your camera. It is powered via USB (5V 0.5A) and features a motor with a resolution of 0.3 microns per step, achieving precision up to 2 microns.

2. Installation Guide
The manual outlines three installation methods depending on the needs and system configuration.
Method 1: Screw Connection to OAG

Description:
The telescope side of the Wanderer ETA has an M54 female thread, while the camera side features six holes spaced at 60° intervals for M2.5 or M3 screws.

Necessary Conditions:
The threaded holes on the OAG telescope side of the OAG must be M2.5 or M3, with a hole circle radius between 31mm and 40mm, and must align with the ETA slots.
The distance from the optical axis center to the bottom protrusion of the focuser must be at least 45mm.
The outer diameter of the OAG must be less than 91mm.
If a filter wheel is installed behind the OAG, the back focus distance between the ETA and the filter wheel must be at least 16mm.
Applications:
This method is suitable for many common configurations, including setups with standard 55mm back focus solutions (applicable to brands such as ZWO, QHY, Touptek, etc.).
Method 2: Direct Screw Connection to the Camera

Description:
This method uses the same M54 female thread on the telescope side and the six 60° spaced holes on the camera side to attach the ETA directly to the camera.

Note:
It is recommended for users who do not use a filter wheel. Always verify that the screw hole positions of the camera are compatible with the ETA.
Method 3: Threaded Connection

Description:
For a threaded connection, you can purchase the Camera Side M54 Female Adapter for Wanderer Electronic Tilt Adjuster M54.

Details:
After securing the adapter with screws, the ETA will occupy a back focus distance of 10mm.
In this configuration, the ETA will have M54 female threads on both sides.
Use an M54 male thread adapter ring with a thread length of 4mm or less to prevent any damage to the device.

3. Using the WandererEmpire Software

The WandererEmpire software allows for simple and intuitive connection and control of the Wanderer ETA.

Installation:
Download the software from the official WandererAstro website.
Follow the installation instructions provided during the setup.

Connection:
Launch the software and select the Wanderer ETA option from the left-side menu.
The software supports up to three devices simultaneously (Device 1, Device 2, Device 3).
If you know the COM port (displayed in Device Manager with a CH340 suffix), select "Select COM Manually" and choose the correct port.
If you are unsure, deselect the option and click "Connect" to let the software search for the device automatically.

Control Interface:
The top section of the interface displays the current status of the device.
The lower left section provides controls for three adjustment points; you can enter a value in millimeters (minimum resolution of 0.001mm, range from 0 to 1.2mm) or use the "Zero" button to reset the values.
The lower right section allows you to save and recall custom presets for specific positions (e.g., "East" or "West").

4. Firmware Upgrade
Firmware upgrade is integrated directly into the WandererEmpire software.

Procedure:
1. Access the firmware upgrade interface from the left-side menu of the software.
2. Select the correct product model.
3. Choose the appropriate COM port (refer to section 3 for details).
4. Select Option 1 and click "Upload".
5. Make sure to disconnect from the ETA in WandererEmpire before starting the upload to avoid COM port errors.
6. Upon completion, a confirmation message will appear indicating a successful update.
