SKN1306EQ2
Skywatcher parabolic Newtonian 130/650mm on EQ2 equatorial mount with field tripod - Explorer 130P

With this compact but powerful Newtonian, Skywatcher fills a gap. For many amateur astronomers, 150mm aperture are to big and the 114mm models are not powerful enough.

The SKN 1306 is an airline-transportable wide field telescope with good image definition.

The parabolic main mirror makes a newtonian possible that is both short and powerful thus making many astromical applications possible.

Observation:
130mm aperture gather 30% more light than 114mm. Hundrets of galaxies and nebulae can be observed successfully.

Another advantage is the short focal length of this telescope. Combined with the TS 32mm Super Plössl (1.25"), a true field of 2.6° can be observed. This is more than 5x the diameter of the moon! Impressing wide field observations are therefore possible.Find this eyepiece in the "accessories" folder.
Thin spider vanes Moon and planets are depicted much sharper and full of contrast with a parabolic mirror. Even if they have a longer focal length, many telescopes with spherical mirrors are inferior. Lunar craters, fine Rimae are shown with the same definition as the Cassini division in the ring of Saturn.

The thin secondary spider vanes:
Thin spider vaned minimize diffraction effects thus raising contrast and reception of fine detail.

Technical details:

- Aperture: 130mm, focal length: 650mm, Focal ratio: f/5
- OTA weigth: 3.7 kg

- parabolic main mirror for better image quality
- Limiting visual magnitude: 13m3
- Resolution: 0.9"
- 1.25" focuser - short design for less vignetting
- Centre mark on main mirror - makes collimation easier.Z
- Main and secondary mirror are fully adjustable.
- Spider vanes are only 0.5mm thin - for less diffraction spikes

The EQ2 mount:

- solid equatorial EQ2 mount with field tripod and manual fine adjustment

- a tracking motor is optionally available: see also in our "accessory" folder

Red dot finder Scope of delivery:

Comparison spherical / parabolical mirror

Left picture:
A spherical mirror (as often used in cheap telescopes) does not focus the light in one point. Weak, undefined pictures are the result.

Right picture:
A good parabolic mirror gathers all light rays in one point. The overall picture quality increases by the pinpoint sharp and full of contrast images.
