Optolong L-eXtreme Dualband Nebula Filter for Color Cameras
The spread of cities and the associated light pollution is a growing problem for astrophotographers. A possible solution is the use of MONO/SW cameras and narrow-band nebula filters. This is expensive and costs valuable exposure time, which is often not available.

Optolong L-eXtreme filters allow the use of color cameras such as SLR or single-shot astro cameras and thus save time and money. The filters are dual bandpass filters that have been specially developed for color cameras. The important areas where important nebulae glow, such as H-alpha and oxygen (O-III), are allowed to pass almost unhindered. The rest is blocked. The filter thus represents a real alternative to narrow-band nebula photography with MONO cameras.

Optolong L-eXtreme filters offer even more contrast than the L-eNhance. The transmission is even narrower and only H-alpha and O-III are transmitted. The result is a harder contrast for maximum detail recognition.

Which side of the filter needs to face towards the telescope?
Optolong has a good explanation on their page with a check on unmounted filters. With mounted filters, it´s easy. The side with the external thread must face the camera.
