Skywatcher Esprit ED 150 mm f/7 FPL53 Triplet Super Apo with 3" Feather Touch focuser

Optics and mechanics of this apo comply with highest quality criteria. Astrophotographers can attach heavy cameras to the focuser without the fear of tilting. The selected triplet lens offers a perfect optical image even at high magnification. The visual resolution is mostly restricted by turbulences in our atmosphere.

Features of the Skywatcher Esprit 150 mm f/7 PhotoLine Apo:

Optics of the 150 mm ESPRIT:

We have long been looking for the right lens type and configuration within a high-end apo and made a find with the Skywatcher ESPRIT 150. We compared the lens image quality with equal top notch apos, like TEC or LZOS, and couldn´t measure any significant difference. Several optical tests showed that the ESPRIT´s optics live up to this very high standard.

The resulting optical imaging is free of chromatic aberration, despite the relatively fast f-ratio of f/7. The elements aren´t cemented, but rather have air gaps inbetween them. The well established FPL53 glass by Ohara (Japan) is used for the APO element. The temperature-compensated cell permits optimal lens adjustment to each other and of the complete system. The collimation is stable and remains spot on, making this apo perfect for mobile use.

The 3" Starlight focuser:

This focuser is in our experience the very best when it comes to advanced applications like astrophotography with heavy CCD-cameras. The focuser is also well suited for observing with large and heavy eyepieces. Of course you can later add a motor focuser, if you wish to.

Generous travel of 89 mm

The draw tube does not bend even under heavy load.

Bearing and adjustment are decoupled from each other. The adjustment happens via a helically toothed rack - without play.

Eyepiece- and camera-sided the focuser provides a 3" and a 2" receptacle plus a M75x1-female thread for screw connections.

The focuser is rotatable by 360 degrees.
